Guinness World Record Attempt

To celebrate the World Pole Sports Championships 2014 the IPSF would like to invite you to take part in a World record breaking event on Saturday 22nd February 2014 at 10am.

In 2006 KT Coates organised a charity event to create the first pole related Guinness World Record and raised over £50,000 for cancer charities across the globe. 206 people were recognised out 356 people in 26 countries.

To promote Pole Sports, WPSC14 and the IPSF we would like to try and beat KT's record. If KT could achieve those figures over seven years ago when there were only a few pole schools we should be able to smash that figure while getting some great publicity for what we love and raising a lot of money for charity.

What you will need:

• A register of all the names of those taking part
• Your chosen Cancer charity you wish to support (set up online donation sites)
• People to take part. They can be very beginner as the routine is easy just repetitive
• learn the short routine and repeat it to the right count for six minutes
• Come early to practice the routine or practice on another date
• As many poles as you can safely fit into your space
• Health questionnaires and an informed consent form to outline the event
• 2 adjudicators which must be people of standing within the community (doctor, mayor, etc.)
• A visible clock
• A clackson, bell or something loud to start the event
• A video camera that can see all of the poles
• Burn the footage on to a DVD and return the DVD, paper work and charity information to the IPSF by 10th March. Those that miss the deadline will not be included. Sorry!

Prizes

• The person who raises the most money will receive two free tickets to the World Pole Sports Championships and £100 to spend
• The group to get the most people performing will receive a free ticket for all that took part to the WPCS14 qualifiers and £100 to spend on transport
• The group that gets the most media exposure in either word count of minuets of air time will receive a free ticket for all that took part to the WPCS14 qualifiers and £100 to spend on transport
• Everyone will receive a printable certificate of participation for the IPSF to hand on your wall. We do not know which groups that were successful so everyone regardless will receive a certificate (to be sent to the group leader to distribute)

Ideas

• Why not find a venue such as a large basement or underground car parking and invite as many people as possible to bring their own pole
• Make a day of it. Have a party for the studio and invite all the student to cheer you all on
• Invite your mayor or local celebrity to count down the start
• Bring as much publicity as possible. It will be great for your studio and for our sport
• have a photographer as the best photo may get the opportunity of being in the record book
• If you have any other ideas let us know and we will list them
