4 LITTLE LETTERS BRING
POLE SPORTS
2 STEPS AWAY FROM
THE OLYMPIC GAMES
Our future is Olympic!
This may come as a complete surprise to you, but the International Pole Sports Federation has been working relentlessly behind the scenes for almost three years in an undying effort to become what’s known as a WADA signatory.
What is WADA?
WADA is the World Anti-Doping Agency which is charged with ensuring a fair and level playing field for all athletes, across all nations, at every level of sport, by enforcing the World Anti-Doping Code. Application to WADA, and subsequent adoption of WADA criteria and the code, is mandatory for any sport seeking official recognition and inclusion into the Olympic Games.
Have we applied?
Yes! On April 1, 2013, the IPSF adopted the World Anti-Doping Code and began the rigorous WADA application process and we were tasked with a strict and extensive set of criteria. This included the
mandatory implementation of educational programmes for National Federations, athletes, coaches, and competition holders to enable our sport to be a drug free and WADA compliant environment. We pushed
doggedly through this process, and finally, the relentless efforts of all those involved at the IPSF paid off! On 20th December 2015, WADA accepted our completed application and announced the IPSF’s
invitation to become an official WADA signatory.
Why is this a big deal?
Wielding those four little letters means a tremendous amount to the future of Pole Sports. It officially qualifies the IPSF, the already recognised governing body for Pole Sports, to now become a
recognised International Federation by SportAccord. This will then qualify Pole Sports to become recognised as an official sport, which is the final qualification for eligibility to be selected as an
Olympic sport! It also means that the IPSF will be the only pole federation to be recognised by SportAccord and the IOC.
We are on our way!
Stay tuned for all the latest exciting updates! Look for big announcements from the IPSF in the coming months on all the positive developments in Pole Sports!
